School websites from ATS go far beyond just a few static pages. Keep students and parents informed with easily updated information. This is not an off-the-shelf product but a unique site built to your school's specific needs. Most of the content is easily updated by you — no need for any web design knowledge. Simply log in, and edit the pages you have access to.
The 2 major features are:
- Adding content is no longer the responsibility of 1 person. Everyone can enter their own information.
- Parents are notified via email whenever a message is added to the website.
The Visitor’s Experience
The Home Page
The parent or student visiting your school's website will see first a homepage with the latest news concerning the entire school. A highlights section is also available on the homepage hot-button to the current menu, upcoming events, and a list of the latest messages posted by the teachers. Visitors may also subscribe to the Home Page Message Board. (Subscribing allows the site visitor to enter their email address. Once they have subscribed to a page, any time a new message is added they will receive an email alert with a link back to the message page).
School Info
The School Info section is where the visitor will be provided with the list of administrators, faculty, and staff. From the School Info section, the visitor may click on any staff picture to be directed to the chosen faculty member's message page. The faculty member's personal message page provides the visitor with the faculty member's bio and posted messages, as well a way to send the faculty member an email, and subscribe to the faculty member's page for email alerts.
Visitors to the School Info section may view the Event Calendar to view all school activities, holidays, etc. The visitor may also view the lunch menu for the month and even print a copy to stick on the fridge.
About Us
On the About Us Page, visitors will find contact information, be able to send the school a message, and view an interactive map to find directions to the school.
Media Center
The Media Center page highlights messages from the media specialists and contains the Accelerated Reader information. From the Accelerated Reader section of the Media Center page, parents and students may search the AR test database for books that meet the Accelerated Reader requirements. The visitor may do a quick search on the Accelerated Reader books by author or title. The visitor may also perform an advanced search on the Accelerated Reader books to include reading level and/or point value.
Extras
This portion of the website will allow visitors to view messages from the PTO, access links to websites recommended by teachers, and see photo albums of school events.
The School’s Experience
message editing
calendar editing
The administration of the site is based on user levels that the system recognizes after the user logs on. For example, general users will only have the ability to edit, add and delete his or her personal message page. Other users have access to editing homepage messages and event calendar. The top user level allows the user to edit, add, or delete any message.
Since the teachers all have their own page, the content of your school website no longer has to wait on the availablity of the web master to "find time" to update the site.
